Prime Recognition Announces PrimeOCR Version 2.7

Aug 22, 1997 - San Carlos, CA - Prime Recognition announced today the availability of PrimeOCR version 2.7. This latest release of Prime Recognition’s “Voting” OCR technology provides for minor updates.

New PrimeOCR version 2.7 features:

• Long File name support - In support of 32-bit operation systems, PrimeOCR now supports long file names.  Users can now use file names that easier describe their image file names and not be restrained with the traditional 8+3 filename constraints.

• New setup program - A new comprehensive, easier to use, setup program has been developed to provide for an easier installation of software options.  The new setup program also provides flexibility to be tailored for OEM installations.

• Log consolidation - PrimeOCR and the OCR Job Server generated a job log and an error log during operation.  These two logs have now be consolidated into one for ease of use.

In addition, Prime Recognition’s graphical interface to PrimeOCR for end-users, PrimeProof, has been upgraded to support all of the PrimeOCR version 2.7 features. PrimeVerify version 2.7 also includes an InputAccel version of PrimeVerify.  The PrimeVerify application allows users to simultaneously edit PrimeOCR results and view the original image for effective, low cost error correction.  PrimeVerify for InputAccel is designed to access PrimeOCR results that are residing in the InputAccel subsystem.  After performing OCR cleanup, PrimeVerify users can then save corrected results back into InputAccel for export or further processing.

Higher OCR Accuracy through “Voting” Technology

Developed for the production OCR marketplace, PrimeOCR is an “omnifont” Windows™ NT/2000/XP based software OCR engine and Application Programming Interface (API) toolkit. Using a combination of proprietary “Voting” algorithms and technology licensed from the best retail OCR vendors, PrimeOCR is able to reduce OCR errors by an average of 65-80% over the best conventional OCR products. This reduces the cost of labor and workstations associated with manual error correction by 65-80%. Since manual error correction can account for over 50% of the annual imaging system cost in OCR-intensive applications, installations that use PrimeOCR can achieve annual cost savings of 35%.
